'My first year at Queen's' by Maya, Year 7

For the past year, Queen’s has been the most supportive, kind and welcoming school. I have enjoyed every little thing about it: the community, the lessons, the food, the clubs and the beautiful school itself! It has been a new chapter of my life, stepping up from Primary School and into Secondary School is something that you don’t know how it will be, until you overcome it, and for me it has been amazing.

Queen’s has so much to offer, even things I never had thought was possible, I have now found new interests, tried out new things and stepped out of my comfort zone is so many different ways (like the trips, sports shows and activities, and clubs). My favourite subjects are English and Art, one more linked to literature and meaning and one where you can express your feelings or thoughts in any form you like, yet both allows you to be creative. We have the most incredible teachers, Ms Senior and Ms McDermott who have helped me through my journey at Queen’s.

My favourite memories I have made in Queen’s are the residential (even though it was rainy) and the memories I have made with my friends. They are memories that I’d never forget.

My absolute favourite part of Queen’s are the clubs. I have taken part in many clubs this year like Eco Club, Girls Human Rights Hub, Science Club, Chess Club and PAC, only to name a few. I enjoy all of them in different ways and value the opportunities they have given. Some of which are interesting lectures, hands-in activities, and the opportunity to compete with your friends in fun ways. Additionally, I do cheerleading, which I have stayed in ever since September, and has given me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and try something new – I love it!

I would like to say thank you so much to everyone in the school (all the staff, pupils, ex-staff and pets!). Thank you for making this such a warm, welcoming community.

Some things I am looking forward to next year are… Making new friends in our new form groups, the disco night and getting to know Queen’s more. I would love to meet all the amazing teachers as well!

I am very grateful that I am part of this community and honestly think that we cannot have made a better school choice!
